It was a busy weekend around here, as are most weekends at our house. The best part was a little bit of pre-birthday celebrating with my little Lily who turns 9 today. For her big day, I've been working on a mini room makeover for her. I've been painting and sewing like a mad woman for the past couple weeks, trying to keep it all a secret from her. And it finally came together on Saturday. (Big thanks to my husband for all his man-power in helping me get it done.) I'm excited to show it to you all later this week, but for now, here's a little bird's eye view...
I had to snap a pic of the art she drew on her magnetic chalkboard. Yeah, she's a little excited.
We also took her out to one of her favorite places for an "it's almost my birthday" sundae. (That's my little clown!)
And then there was Shakespeare. Are you picturing me lounging around with a cup of tea, enjoying an afternoon brushing up on the soliloquies of Shakespeare?
Well, it was nothing like that. Instead, I was
gently encouraging cracking the whip over my son as he worked to eek out seven pages worth of a research paper. I love that kid, but let's just say doing homework together brings out the worst in both of us. And by the way, do any of you moms out there have any good new Motivational Mom Threats? I've been using the "You better start taking the initiative to do all this yourself or I'll have to pack up & go to college with you in a few years" until it's pretty much worn out. Let me know.
So, anyway, I'm exhausted. Ready for a work week so I can get a little break. Just kidding, of course. I'm up & at it again today. What did you do this weekend?
